Huge thanks to Ord Storage Services Ltd, Muir of Ord who supported the school by supplying a large volume of storage boxes this week for FREE! This means that staff are able to pack away the resources in classrooms and our nursery. This is all taking place as a result of the forthcoming opening of our new Beauly Nursery, in August.
P1/2 and P2/3 had a super day out at Landmark last week. The weather was lovely and we all enjoyed ourselves trying new things and learning about woodland wildlife. Crazy heights were achieved on the rope course, our heads were whizzing after the roller coaster and everyone made a big splash on the water slides! A big thank you to all the parent helpers who accompanied us on our trip, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!!
Well done to all the players representing the school at the 2014 Shinty World Cup. The players played well through their stage games in their league to finish 3rd, which meant they qualified for the next round and the knock out stages (two leagues of 6 teams). The top 4 went through into the knock out stages.
The quarter final game was against Leven who had not conceded a goal all of the tournament, until they played Beauly, 3-0 Beauly. Onto the semi finals where we were hoping for Lochaber rather than a strong Portree team, it was not to be as we were drawn to play Portree, a galant effort followed but Beauly lost out to Portree. Portree progressed on with Lochaber into the final and Portree won. A fantastic effort from everyone involved!
Thirty nine schools in Scotland are being visited by The Riderz as part of the national ‘Give Me Cycle Space’ campaign – Beauly Primary was one of the thirty nine! Beauly was selected as a result of our pupils hard work in promoting and improving safe cycling and scooting. Everyone loved the Riderz Stunt Show and the no hands, 360 backflip jump (while demonstrating the ‘Give Me Cycle Space’ logo) was definately everyone’s favourite! – The following is some of the feedback from the visiting Riderz crew:
It’s Friday 13th eek! It’s also the last day of our school tour and we are in beautiful Beauly. There are 70 bikes in the bike racks today which is fantastic to see. That means most of the pupils cycled to school today – well done everyone!!!! It’s great to see so many bikes. Luke and Ali from our team (who are both trials riders) were particularly excited to see trials bikes in school.
We have been speaking to the staff and apparently there has been a great effort made by everyone to promote cycling, we can see how you became a Cycling Scotland Cycle Friendly School! Because of the lack of space we’ve had to set up the stunt show over by the Shinty Club.
We worked with the P4/5/6/7s today. Sarah, our artist, is helped some to create some really colourful maps of the cycle routes around the school.
Congratulations to all the junior teams representing Beauly Shinty Club at the Kirkhill Gala this week. The three teams dominated all age groups and returned to Beauly with three trophies and the award for player of the tournament. Beauly was represented at P2/3, P5 & Under and P7 & Under. Well done to all the players and coaches on the night – fantastic effort all round.
Two P7 girls decided to approach Mr Morrison recently with a request. Erin and Kern had decided that they wanted to do something special to raise money for the School Fund. The girls share a hobby called Loom Bandz, which involves making a variety of bracelets, charms and useful objects.
“We enjoy making them and decided to sell them within school because it is a good cause” and “raising money for new things in school will help to make Beauly Primary better”, explained the girls.
Incredubly Erin and Kern managed to make £90 in a single afternoon with their stall at the Summer Fete. They now have the tough task of fulfilling their orders to keep the customers happy! The girls plan to hand out all the items that were bought before the end of term, through school. Well done for your initiative! What a special thing to do for the school before moving on to Charleston Academy in a few weeks. Thank you!
